Carl A. Zimmerman

Carl has more than 30 years of extensive development and leadership experience in health systems, health insurance organizations and associations. His business acumen combined with quality leadership has been a winning combination for many years. He previously served as President and CEO of Lifelink Corporation and Delta Dental Plans Association; Vice President of Health Care Affairs for Blue Cross Blue Shield of Illinois; Executive Vice President of Systems Operations for Evangelical Health Systems; and President and CEO of Evangelical Hospitals Corporation.
During his executive leadership career, he has successfully planned and executed countless strategic plans, and has mentored many of his colleagues. Some of his various accomplishments include: developing and implementing the plans to build Bethany Hospital in Chicago, successfully developing innovative heart programs in Evangelical Hospitals Corporation; co-founding Caring Communities Insurance Company (CCIC), a shareholder-owned off-shore insurance company for multi-facility long-term care providers; managing provider relations and PPO contracts for the largest health insurer in Illinois; and overseeing the development of managed dental care insurance products for the largest dental insurer in the United States.
Carl brings a wealth of knowledge to the Pruehs & Associates team. His experience in creating relationships and vast knowledge of both the non-profit and for-profit sectors gives our clients a unique depth and offers a viable resource to meet their strategic needs.
Carl holds a bachelor degree in philosophy from Elmhurst College, a master's of divinity from The Chicago Theological Seminary, and a masters in management from Northwestern University's Kellogg Graduate School of Management, all with honors. He is a Life Fellow in the American College of Healthcare Executives and has also received several management recognition awards throughout his career. In additional, Carl has served in leadership roles on a variety of college, not-for-profit and for-profit boards.
